Kindergarten Students vs. Germs

The kindergartners at East Central School are concerned about staying healthy this year. We know it is very important to stop the spread of germs. Nurse Alice Altoff visited our classroom and told us that washing our hands is the easiest way to stop sharing our germs. The children learned this with a very interesting lesson. Nurse Alice gave each child a squirt of a special lotion that mimics germs. Then the children were instructed to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Did you know that it takes about 20 seconds to sing the alphabet song? When the children thought their hands were good and clean they placed their hands under a blacklight lamp. The left over germs glowed on their hands from the blacklight! It wasn’t as easy as they thought to clean ALL the germs off their hands!
