We're On Our Way. Watch Out Donald Trump!

Well, we DID it! The yearlong project called “Money Counts” became a reality when grades 6-8 wheeled and dealed to the tune of over $1255 dollars pregame Parents' Night Football with Preston. Excitement and healthy competition ruled the night. Students hawked their wares and made some good deals to customers. We all learned a great deal about working together to earn.
As the year moves along, students will learn more and more about financial responsibility. Their slogan is simple: “earn it, save it, spend it, share it.” Ask them and they should be able to give you a play by play. They're pretty excited earners. We imagine the spending part will be equally captivating.
For now, though, they've got some learning to do with lessons in money management. The teachers work as advisors, right along with the kids. With their help, each section will divide their earnings so each student gets his or her fair share of the earnings to spend at a coffee shop. In the days ahead, each section will run the coffee shop for 3 weeks, adding to their profit. Also, students will be check writing from their own accounts (checks made at school) for the items in these stores.
Besides spending wisely, there will be lessons on investment, cost of living, and retirement. In addition, each section will need a plan for emergencies in case the staff springs a hypothetical disaster on them! With the belief that earning has its rewards, students will have a chance to spend on themselves for an activity of their choice. (Sort of like their parents spending for a vacation or retirement!)That could be interesting! That is, if they have made enough money to cover all their other needs first! Stay tuned to this web site and watch the tycoons at Trump..., I mean Raider Towers.
