8th Grade Art Project
by Tori Creger
November 12, 2009
The eighth grade art class will be engaged in a community
service art project this year, with instructor Heather
Houzenga, and their efforts are under way. A nod of approval
from the city of Sabula was all that they needed to get
started, so the Maude Brooks Park site was chosen for
revitalization.
The students have been painting the fence surrounding the
park, a new fountain pump has been donated, along with the
labor of installation, and the class plans to seal and
mosaic the fountain with ceramic tile, which has been
donated as well. Materials cost for all other materials will
be assessed at the next Sabula City Council meeting, to
ensure that funding will be available for this community
service project.
The class will be graphing and designing what the fountain
will look like when they wrap up the project in the spring
of 2010.
