District Information: School Board Meeting Minutes

School Board Minutes-February 2010

February 18, 2010

REGULAR MEETING, FEBRUARY 17, 2010

The Board met in regular session February 17th at 7:00 P.M.  Members present were Mollie Galusha, Andrew Naeve, Steve Gendreau, Warren Koch, and Jon Wall.  

The minutes of the previous meetings were read for approval.  Warren Koch moved and Andrew Naeve seconded to approve the minutes as read.  Roll Call Vote – Gendreau-yes – Koch-yes - Naeve-yes – Wall-yes – Galusha-yes.  Motion carried.

The financial reports were presented for discussion.  Jon Wall moved and Mollie Galusha seconded to approve the financial reports as presented.  Roll Call Vote – Galusha-yes – Wall-yes – Naeve-yes – Gendreau-yes – Koch-yes.  Motion carried.

The monthly bills were presented for discussion.  Mollie Galusha moved and Andrew Naeve seconded to approve the monthly bills as allowed.  Roll Call Vote – Naeve-yes – Wall-yes – Koch-yes – Galusha-yes – Gendreau-yes.  Motion carried.

Warren Koch moved and Jon Wall seconded to approve the agenda with no additions.  Roll Call Vote – Naeve-yes – Wall-yes – Koch-yes – Galusha-yes – Gendreau-yes.  Motion carried.


Supt.’s report:
(a) Boys Basketball win and next game is Thursday, February 18, 2010.

There was no old business to discuss or act upon.

Warren Koch moved and Andrew Naeve seconded to approve Trisha Shannon’s resignation as jr. high summer softball coach.  Roll Call Vote – Koch-yes – Naeve-yes – Galusha-yes – Wall-yes – Gendreau-yes.  Motion carried.

Mollie Galusha moved and Jon Wall seconded to approve Laurel Gruhn’s resignation as middle school English/Computer instructor.  Roll Call Vote – Galusha-yes – Wall-yes – Gendreau-yes – Koch-yes – Naeve-yes.   Motion carried.

Andrew Naeve moved and Warren Koch seconded to approve Jean Grager’s resignation as middle school social studies instructor.  Roll Call Vote – Naeve-yes – Koch-yes – Gendreau-yes – Wall-yes – Galusha-yes.  Motion carried.

After much discussion Mollie Galusha moved and Andrew Naeve seconded to table action on the budget reduction proposals the administration presented.  Roll Call Vote – Galusha-yes – Naeve-yes – Koch-yes – Gendreau-yes – Wall-yes.  Motion carried.

Dan Pataska, spoke person for Concern Parents, had suggestions and questions on the budget cuts for 2010-11 for the Board.

Warren Koch left the meeting.

After reading the letter from the Preston School Board requesting a meeting with the East Central School Board, Jon Wall moved and Mollie Galusha seconded to draft a reply letter stating any further meeting would include Preston and Northeast School Boards.  Roll Call Vote – Wall-yes – Galusha-yes – Naeve-yes – Gendreau-yes.  Motion carried.

Vicki Johnson, Andrew Naeve and Dick Keeney reported on the discussion of the three school meeting held January 27th.  The question for Boards - Is there sufficient potential benefit for our district to continue to participate in the conversation to identify the optimal level of collaboration to maintain our district’s ability to provide a quality educational program.  The Board decided to move ahead with the three school meetings-East Central, Northeast, and Preston.

Jon Wall moved and Andrew Naeve seconded to approve Marion Miller as summer baseball coach.  Roll Call Vote – Wall-yes yes Naeve-yes – Gendreau-yes – Galusha-yes.  Motion carried.

The Board set March 3rd for a budget workshop and March 15th for calendar hearing and instructional support levy hearing.

Andrew Naeve moved and Jon Wall seconded to approve Orion Bredekamp’s request for open enrollment from Clinton Community School for 2010-11 school year.  Roll Call Vote – Naeve-yes – Wall-yes – Gendreau-yes – Galusha-yes.

Being there was no further business to discuss or act upon, Andrew Naeve moved and Mollie Galusha seconded to adjourn the meeting.  Roll Call Vote – Naeve-yes – Wall-yes – Galusha-yes – Gendreau-yes.  Motion carried.
