2007 Arbor Day National Poster Contest
5th grade submissions
March 22, 2007

The United States has observed Arbor Day since 1872, where we celebrate and enjoy the trees and environment that surround us.
The 5th grade students East Central have been invited to enter the 2007 Iowa Arbor Day Poster Contest, sponsored by the Forestry Bureau of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This year's topic was Trees are Terrific...and Forests are too!
Though more than half of the class participated and did a fine job, only one poster could be chosen to be sent in for judging. The top four pieces of completed artwork were selected and a panel of judges narrowed it down to the top finalist, Colby M.
The winning poster from the Iowa contest, announced by March 29, 2007, will go on to compete in the National Arbor Day Poster Contest, sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota.
Iowa's recognized Arbor Day is the last Friday in April, so please use this day to go outside and enjoy the beauty of nature around you!
